SSH GS 260-230-13 Standstill heating

Standstill heaters are used to avoid condensation and prevent frost damage when motors are at a standstill in cold environments.
The standstill heaters presented here are intended for use in electric motors.

Functional principle:
The heating conductor (resistance wire) made of CuNi or NiCr alloy is wound in a spiral on a glass fibre carrier. The resulting individual wires are connected in series using crimp sleeves. To protect against moisture, the crimp connections are insulated with shrink tubing and the heating conductors are covered with a silicone sheath. The heating cable is encased in a glass fibre tube. This is used to install the heater before vacuum impregnation of the motor. Power is supplied via permanently connected PTFE single strands.

General notes:

• When installing, ensure that the cable and insulation are not damaged.
• Avoid heavy bending loads (kinking) and localised mechanical loads on the heating cable.
• The silicone insulation of the heating cable is only "conditionally resistant" to some chemical compounds used in the VPI impregnation process (e.g. styrene/toluene in the case of UP impregnating resin). The user must prove the suitability for his VPI process with his own tests.
