What is the PRCD-S ?

• PRCD-S stands for "Portable Residual Current Device - Safety"
• The PRCD-S is the portable protective device for all construction and assembly sites in accordance with the requirements of the employers' liability insurance associations,
  of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and the accident prevention regulations of the fire brigades.
• The PRCD-S enables safe current extraction from existing sockets.
• The PRCD-S checks sockets, especially protective conductors, for proper functioning and only allows current to be drawn from safe sockets.
• The PRCD-S also serves as a mobile residual current device (RCD).
• The PRCD-S is the only portable protective device that fulfils the requirements of the professional associations
  and the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs for a safe supply point for current draw.

Why PRCD-S?
Personal protection for your employees: comply with regulations, protect employees, "keep your head clear".
According to a report by the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, an average of almost 2,200 electrical accidents occur in the commercial sector every year.
more than 20 of these end fatally for those affected. Almost 50% of the accidents (in the range between 130-1000 V) are caused by faulty fixed installations (sockets, etc.) or faulty equipment (tools, lights, extensions, etc.).

What does the PRCD-S do?
According to BGI 608 & GUV-V C53, the PRCD-S has the following functions:

• Residual current circuit breaker (RCD) - Protective conductor detection (testing the function before operation)
• Protective conductor monitoring (testing the function during operation)
• External voltage detection
• Undervoltage release

Protection in case of external voltage on the protective conductor

• The PRCD-S detects the external voltage on the protective conductor
• However, the PRCD-S does not interrupt the protective conductor connection
• The external voltage can thus disconnect itself via its own upstream protective devices FI and LS

Scope of protection of the PRCD-S:
In the event of faults in the connected electrical device:

• The PRCD-S protects according to DIN VDE 0661
• Fault currents caused by defective loads lead to disconnection of all poles by the PRCD-S.

In the event of system faults in the fixed installation:

• The PRCD-S detects all conceivable faults in the fixed installation and cannot be switched on in the event of a detected fault
• The intact protective conductor functions are checked before switching on and monitored during operation.
  This increases the protection level against dangerous body currents.
• An undervoltage release prevents the unit from switching on again automatically after voltage recovery
• The PRCD-S does not switch off if the protective conductor is subjected to external voltage, e.g. by drilling into an external line.
  This can cause the upstream safety device to respond.

Please note:
The PRCD-S must not be switched on while wearing gloves! To ensure that the PRCD-S can carry out the "Mains voltage to protective conductor" check correctly when it is switched on, the PRCD-S must not be switched on with gloves or other insulating objects. The switch-on procedure must be carried out as intended, i.e. with the bare hand!
