Regulatory situation
The municipal accident prevention regulation GUV-V C53 §29 and GUV-I 8651 C23 describe technical requirements to be applied and give recommendations for the emergency services to ensure a safe current draw from existing supply points at the site of operation.
If, due to the situation, a supply point other than a standardised generator is required, the connection may only be made via a personal protection switch according to DIN VDE 0661. pRCD-K type personal protection switches are usually connected directly to the load as inline devices. PRCD-K can be operated both on standardised generators and on sockets.

Why PRCD-K?
As a rule, fire brigade and disaster control forces use standardised power generators with protective separation for the safe power supply of their electrical equipment. However, conditions prevailing at an emergency site favour the probability of an electrical accident due to humidity or moisture. Electrical equipment is particularly stressed at emergency scenes, so the risk for the emergency forces is high.
The consequences of such an electrical accident involve incalculable risks to life and limb of the user.

In this case, the PRCD-K as an additional mobile residual current device (RCD) has the function of increasing the protection level. In the event of a fault, the device safely disconnects the user and thus protects against a life-threatening electrical accident.
